Design of a novel energy harvesting mechanism for underwater gliders using thermal buoyancy engines

چکیده

Underwater gliders (UGs) are becoming popular in ocean exploration. However, the main limitation for their development is supply of energy. This paper proposes a novel energy harvesting mechanism an underwater glider equipped with thermal buoyancy engine. The engine changes glider, due to difference temperature ocean, and it drives up down water. These manoeuvres drive turbine behind harvest Based on this mechanism, first, new type high ballast capacity presented. Secondly, dedicated turbine, mounted optimally designed based Blade Element Momentum Theory (BEMT). In order consider un-uniform inflow generated by wake upgraded version BEMT model has been developed. With results obtained paper, enhanced efficiency self-sustainable can be achievable.

Routing strategies for underwater gliders

rapidly reach a specified waypoint or to maximize the ability to map a measured field, both in the presence of significant currents. For rapid transit in a frozen velocity field, direct minimization of travel time provides a trajectory ‘‘ray’’ equation. A simpler routing algorithm that requires less information is also discussed. Two approaches are developed to maximize the mapping ability, as ...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

An Approach for Operation Depth Reduction of an Underwater Glider Propelled by Ocean Thermal Energy

The underwater Gliders are a kind of autonomous vehicles that have a special role in ocean surveys which demand continuous monitoring and long endurance. Because of low energy consumption and long endurance, these vehicles are favorite for these missions. Among this, a type of gliders can harvest ocean thermal energy, causing significant endurance increase. These vehicles need at least 680 mete...

Stabilization and Coordination of Underwater Gliders

An underwater glider is a buoyancy-driven, fixedwing underwater vehicle that redistributes internal mass to control attitude. We examine the dynamics of a glider restricted to the vertical plane and derive a feedback law that stabilizes steady glide paths. The control law is physically motivated and with the appropriate choice of output can be interpreted as providing input-output feedback line...
